Rwanda is a country that has been devasted for decades
by poverty, war and genocide. After the 1994 genocide
suffered in Rwanda when over 800,000 people were killed
in less than 3 months, the country and the people
of Rwand are rebuilding. The country is focused on
unity and rebuilding relationships between the previously
segregated peoples, the Hutu and Tutsi.
With the country focused on reconciliation, rebuilding,
unity and hope it is incredible to see the progress
that has occured. Volunteers On Call is committed
to being a part of the continued hope and reconciliation
in Rwanda and reaching out to those in need with love.
Our partnerships in Rwanda are currently focused
on effort to education, train, encourage and provide
hope for orphans, vulnerable children and widows.
We will continue to work in Rwanda to bring hope to
these people and provide teams and volunteers to aid
in the following:
Education - Teaching english to
those in need to improve their ability to communicate
in society and break out of the confines of lesser
education.
HIV/AIDS Education & Prevention
- Provide educational programs and medical support
to help children and women understand how to protect
themselves against HIV/AIDS.
Food & Housing - Provide housing
for those in need of shelter and provide skills and
resources for sustinance.
Skills Training - Provide skills
training in regional and cultural skills such as farming,
sewing, crocheting, etc. to allow individuals to earn
