Habitat for Humanity
Back to Domestic Projects

Once a year Volunteers on Call, Inc. provides the volunteer manpower from the Greenwich area to assist in this ongoing effort.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bridgeport is an independently-operated affiliate located in Connecticut. Founded in 1985, HFHGB is a partnership dedicated to making shelter a matter of conscience. We challenge individuals, churches, synagogues, businesses and other organizations to lend a helping hand to those in need of better housing.

HFHGB is part of an international Christian housing ministry working hard to make the American dream of a safe, decent home come true for all people. We furnish the capital to build or renovate houses, and with the help of volunteers, homeowners and applicants, we are making this dream come true. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bridgeport is a partnership dedicated to making shelter a matter of conscience. We challenge individuals, churches, synagogues, businesses and other organizations to lend a helping hand to those in need of better housing. Building relationships and community is as important to us as building homes. Each project attempts to transcend the boundaries of culture, status and reach through the sharing of a common goal.

In 2001 our program has expanded to include the new Habitat Construction Training Center (CTC) to provide a comprehensive, educational, personal development and job skill training program for "at risk youth." CTC students receive vocational education and hands on experience to prepare them for employment in the construction trades.
